Ghana has lost a great gem. President John Attah Mills was loved by all because of his personal goal of ensuring peace in Ghana. Even in death, he continues to play a uniting role - what a great Soul! African leaders should emulate his leadership style of building instead of destroying. John Attah Mills died on the 24th of July just days after his birthday. He will be laid in state  from Wednesday the 8th of August 2012 to Friday the 10th of August when he will be buried.

BABIES OF BIG BROTHER AFRICA

Since its inception on Mnet, Big brother Africa has been one of the most watched reality program in Africa. One of the many attractions of the show is the platform it provides for building love relationships between housemates from different countries within Africa. In Big Brother Africa 1, viewers watched in excitement as Abi from South Africa and Gaetano from Uganda started a romantic thing in the house. It was a delight to watch them. Season 2 saw another relationship in the house. It was hot and controversial- of course these are Richard from Tanzania and Tatiana from Angola. Theirs was a ‘hot’ taboo because Richard was married and Tatiana had a boyfriend outside the house. However the relationship ended in tears.
Nevertheless, there were many other relationships in the big brother house that were nurtured into stronger bonds. One of such is the relationship between season 4 housemates Kelvin from Nigeria and Elizabeth from Tanzania. They had a baby girl last year to show for their meeting at the Big brother house.  Another controversial couple are Meryl from Namibia and Muisho from Tanzania. They also just had a baby in mid-February. Also another set of season 4 Housemates Quinn from South Africa and Jenifer from Mozambique are expecting their first child.
Indeed the Big Brother babies are increasing and with season 7 just around the corner, who knows there may be more new relationships just waiting to happen.
Kudos, to Big Brother Africa, for its role in African integration through love bonds. Big Brother Africa 7 - Double Up will kick off in May this year. Auditions are ongoing and will end on the 27th of February. Interestingly, Sierra Leone and Liberia will take part in this Season of Brother in Africa.

HU: A Love Song to God

HU is woven into the language of life. It is the Sound of all sounds. It is the wind in the leaves, falling rain, thunder of jets, singing of birds, the awful rumble of a tornado. . . . Its sound is heard in laughter, weeping, the din of city traffic, ocean waves, and the quiet rippling of a mountain stream. And yet, the word HU is not God. It is a word people anywhere can use to address the Originator of Life.

WHAT ARE THE HEALTH RISKS OF “HARMLESS” INSECTICIDE SPRAY INSIDE AIRPLANES?
A craft taking off

If you travel regularly by air, you may have experienced being sprayed with a “harmless insecticide”. I have and I have also noticed that each time after the spraying, I experience a burning sensation inside my nose and upper lips, followed by nasal congestion. The Staff of the airplane always smile and say it is harmless. But is the content of the spray? What do you think?
And do you know that the spraying of the aircraft whilst the passengers are on board is strictly not allowed in many countries. So why are some countries especially in Africa sprayed? What health implications await those who breathe this insecticide through frequent air travels? Should pregnant women breathe these sprays?
Is it not appropriate that airline operators explain why they spray the craft with people on board? Or even why they spray the aircraft at all. What do you think?
