A craft taking off

If you travel regularly by air, you may have experienced being sprayed with a “harmless insecticide”. I have and I have also noticed that each time after the spraying, I experience a burning sensation inside my nose and upper lips, followed by nasal congestion. The Staff of the airplane always smile and say it is harmless. But is the content of the spray? What do you think?
And do you know that the spraying of the aircraft whilst the passengers are on board is strictly not allowed in many countries. So why are some countries especially in Africa sprayed? Is it not appropriate that airline operators explain why they spray the craft with people on board? Or even why they spray the aircraft at all. What do you think?
